The Competition

In FIRST STRONGHOLD, two Alliances of three robots each are on a Quest to breach their opponents’ fortifications, weaken their tower with boulders, and capture the opposing tower. Robots score points by breaching opponents’ defenses and scoring boulders through goals in the opposing tower. During the final 20 seconds of the Quest, robots may surround and scale the opposing tower to capture it.

oUR Story

The 2015-2016 season was Stafford's debut as a rookie team. This year, Stafford MSD began placing a new importance on robotics and other technology related career fields. With brand new facilities and school funding, Mr. Frank Hoang stepped in as the new sponsor to the young Spartan Robotics team.

Coming off a quiet year doing vex, the team at Stafford had minimal experience when it came to FIRST with only one senior having participated in a FIRST competition during his tenure as a middleschooler on the High School team.

Mr. Hoang brought the invaluable experience and expertise the team as a mentor. He taught us valuable knowledge on numismatics, drive trains, programming, and robotics design. This rookie year was a huge learning experience for the Spartan Robotics team as they participated in their first FIRST Robotics Competition.

Early on in the year, we were able to gain support from Team 2468 Appreciate as they lent us a robot to participate in late season play from the 2014-2015 season.

Later on. and throughout the year, we were able to cooperate with Team Spectrum. With the help of Team Spectrum, we were able to design our robot in CAD and also design a five wheel drive train.

With our robot designed and assembled, we were ready to participate in our first competition!
